Connectivity orders
Connectivity usually involves more than one party: you, a carrier or other customer, and the site. This guide explains the information each order needs. The services available depend on the site.
Order information
- A-side and Z-side endpoints
- Authorization from the party receiving the connection, where required
- Media and service type
- The demarcation point for each party
- Authorized requester and contacts for both endpoints
- Delivery dependencies: carrier readiness, endpoint permissions, site cabling, and any required third-party work
- Agreed testing and acceptance evidence, with an owner for unresolved exceptions
- Service identifiers and separate support contacts for physical connection and carrier service
Installation and acceptance
Installation may depend on carrier work outside the site. After installation, testing confirms the connection, and acceptance records the circuit or service identifier for future support.
Physical connection versus carrier service
A cross-connect is a physical connection. Where the requirement includes carrier service, that service and the physical cross-connect have separate delivery and support responsibilities. Customer-to-customer or other intra-facility connections do not universally require an external carrier contract. Identify the actual endpoints, permissions, service scope, and acceptance evidence for the requested connection.
