Remote hands
Remote hands lets on-site staff perform defined physical tasks for you. Clear requests prevent delays and mistakes. The tasks available and their charges are set by your service catalog.
What a request needs
- Authorized requester: requests must come from someone your administrator has authorized
- Task scope: one clear task, or an ordered list of tasks
- Equipment reference: cabinet, rack unit, device label, and port as applicable
- Work window: when the task may be performed
- Approved instruction reference: identify the authorized work scope and revision through the approved service channel; this public guide does not supply technical switching instructions
- Service and asset: identify the contracted service and equipment without sharing passwords or PINs
- Contact: who can clarify the request during the work window
- Expected result: the observation or completion evidence needed, within permitted disclosure rules
- Stop and escalation conditions: what discrepancy requires a pause, who decides the next step, and the approved contact route
Stop conditions
State when staff should stop and contact you: an unexpected device state, a label mismatch, or any step that could affect other equipment. Staff will not continue past an ambiguous instruction.
Evidence, charges, and escalation
Ask for photos or readings if you need them as evidence. Charges follow the catalog unit. Remote hands is limited to physical tasks; it does not include administering your systems.
